Welcome to my blog. I cannot say it will always be positive nor will it always be happy but it is life. God does not give us an guarantees in life except that He will love us, provide for us and take care of us. My life has taken turns I would never have anticipated but through God's grace and love I continue on my journey, one step at a time.

Back in the game

I started Weight Watchers almost 3 weeks ago. The first two weeks I lost 7 pounds. This week has been very off and on. It is really hard to eat healthy when I am at home...too much access to bad foods.

I also would like to start running. It will definitely be a slow start because I am so out of shape but at least a start. I purchased new running shoes last week. They are yellow so I love them.

Sit Around or Get Moving??????

So I gained weight this past week. I am not surprised with all the pumpkin cookies I ate! But boy, oh boy were they ever good. So I sit here today, feeling a little down and fat, thinking about how I am feeling. I came to the conclusion that I have two choices. I can...

#1 - Sit around and feel sorry for myself and about how I feel

OR

#2 - I can get off my butt, get to the gym, eat right and lose this weight, making me feel better about me.

So Monday I am embarking on the journey yet again. The journey to a new, better, healthier, thinner me.

Boo Hoo

So I went to the nutritionist yesterday and much to my dismay I gained 3 of my 5 pounds back. I was really upset about the gain. I will admit, I cried. I knew that I was not doing that well but I did not really think I was going to gain 3 pounds back! I have some plans for losing the 3 pounds again, keeping it gone, and losing more. I will post more about that later.

A Bag of Sugar!

So I went to the nutritionist today. Much to my surprise and happiness I weighed in at 212. That is a 5 pound lose since I was there 2 weeks ago tonight! I am so thrilled! With everything that is going on right now I cannot believe I even had a loss. I actually had tears in my eyes because of the weight I lost!

  • Eliptical: 35 minutes, 3.93 miles, 5200 strides (148.6 strides per minute)
  • Stationary Bike: 10 minutes, 3.33 miles, levels 1-3

Goals:
  • Water Intake: 64 oz.
  • Workout: done (3 times this week so far)
  • Lose 12 pounds: again, technically 11 pounds for the GHC but really 13 pounds total
  • 3-4 servings of fruit/veggies - done
  • No eating after 8pm - yes, one Dove Dark Chocolate small heart
  • Journal - done

Food:

  • Small portion of spaghetti with sauce and 3 slices of sausage and parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 garlic knot
  • 3 servings of red peppers
  • 1 piece of Quiche with ham, cheese, spinach, mushrooms and onions. I used egg beaters and 2 eggs
  • Small Dove Dark Chocolate heart

I need to work on getting some breakfast into me. I think this would help me a lot. I also think I need to concentrate better on my eating habits. I am really not eating enough even though I am not hungry.

February 18

I went to the fitness center at 8:15 this morning. I impressed with myself for getting there early. I am also very happy with my workout. I was on the eliptical for 45 minutes. I did 6362 strides and I did 3.64 miles all within my target heart rate. I also drank 33 oz. of what while I was at the gym. Boy, do I feel tired and good. There is something to be said about working out as it makes you feel so much better and it makes the world a little bit brighter!

Goals:

  • Water Intake - 65 oz.
  • Workout - done (1 time this week so far)
  • Lose 12 pounds - technically done but I really have only lost 11 while doing the challenge so that is what I am counting
  • Eat 3-4 servings of veggies a day - done
  • No eating after 8PM - done
  • Journal - done, doing it now and will add more later - done

It has been a while

Since I last posted. I am struggling which does not surprise me at this point in the game. This week will be especially difficult since I am home all week and anything I want to eat is here. However, I will not let temptation defeat me! I will eat right and I will go to the gym.

I wish losing weight and getting healthy was not such a struggle. I am convinced someday it will just click. I just need to continue down the path leading to that.

My plan is to get up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to go to the gym this week. I want to do it soon after waking up because if I let it wait I will not go. I would also like to push my workouts up to 45 minutes a session. I want to begin weighlifting but I still think I will hold that off since I want to get as much cardio in as possible.

February 11

Today was much better I am happy to say!

I drank 65 oz. of water, ate 3 servings of veggies and went to the gym...treadmill, 30 minutes, 1.74 miles, did not eat after 8 PM

Here is what I ate today:
tiny piece of breakfast casserole
carrots
baking powder biscuit
Best Life Barilla pasta with mushrooms, broccoli, olive oil, parm cheese, chicken and a little mozzarella cheese
small coffee with 1% milk and 1/2 tablespoon sugar
Diet Pepsi

I know I did not eat enough today because I am hungry. It was a busy day. I will do better tomorrow. I did turn down chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!

February 4 - Struggling

I am here to admit I am having a difficult time right now. Over the weekend I did not eat that great but it could have been a lot worse. Today I was not good, no breakfast, very little water, mac and cheese for lunch and bread and butter with my soup for dinner. There is a brownie left and I am thinking about eating that too. I also did not go to the gym because I am still very stuffy from the allergy/asthma attack I had last night. I was also exhausted from being up way too late watching post Super Bowl stuff with Dustin. I am not giving up (in the past when the getting got tough I would bow out because I would feel like it was worthless but not now!). I probably will not go to the gym tomorrow night either because I have a Book Talk I am leading at our local teacher center and will not get out for there until 5:30-6:00. I know I will do better but wanted to post my struggle.
